The Pre-Construction Building Enclosure Coordination Meeting is one of the most critical meetings for the Project Team. The Building Enclosure is critical to designing and constructing high-performance, resilient structures. The risk of failure is high if the details are not coordinated, and the responsibility for coordination is often unclear. To start the coordination discussion, many firms in the industry have begun hosting “Preconstruction Meetings” or “Building Enclosure Coordination Meetings” to bring together all the experience and expertise of the design and construction teams to coordinate and finalize the details. BEC Indiana believes hosting this meeting is a best practice and is excited to announce the release of our “Building Enclosure Coordination (BEC) Meeting Guide” (Download Doc Here) as a tool for our local industry.

BRIK or Building Research Information Knowledgebase

The American Institute of Architects and the National Institute of Building Sciences have developed a collaborative effort of the Building Research Information Knowledgebase (BRIK)which is an interactive portal offering online access to peer-reviewed research projects and case studies in all facets of building, from predesign, design, and construction through occupancy and reuse. Links to publications, website and other periodicals related to the design and construction of the building enclosure are also provided in the left navigation bar.
